Bhubu Pass trek is accessible from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the least known treks of Himachal touching the altitude of about 3000 m. Locals use this trek only during winters, while backpackers finds delight in exploring a little-known valley during the peak trekking time. The experience of doing this trek is rewarding. It is a relatively easy trek and can be attempted by someone who has belief that mountains are walkable. This could be a trek for beginners, or even first timers. But the pleasure to walk through the Himalayas in natural rugged terrain is a feeling that only a trekker can experience.

The trek to Bhubu pass starts from Daylight, which is connected to Manali via road. The trek grade is not hard and except for brief climbs here and there, the majority of the trek remains on an even gradient. There are up and downs, yes, but their intensity or steepness is not so prominent. In other words, a person with the fit body can attempt this trek.

The end point of the trek is Mulling. Its’ one of those treks which start and ends at different places. Mulling is close to Dharamshala and is a holy city for Tibetans. So, visiting Manali and Dharamshala would be an additional bonus while pursuing the Bhubu pass trek.

What You Should Pack for Bhubu Pass Trek

  • Footwear: Trekking Boots (snow and water proof), normal walking boots, and floaters. Few pairs of warm/woolen socks.
  • Luggage: Backpack (60-70 liters), Daypack, Duffel bag.
  • Clothes: Waterproof breathable jacket & pants, Jacket (synthetic or fleece of down feather), insulated pants (Synthetic), Poncho, Sweatshirt, inner thermal (upper & lower), fleece, t-shirts, cotton trekking pants, shorts.
  • Gear for Hand & Head: Liner glove, Bandanna, Sun hat, Woolen caps, Face mask etc.
  • Accessories: Sunglasses/Goggles, anti-glare glasses, water bottle, hydra pack, Headlamp with spare bulb and extra batteries.
  • Trekking Gears: Emergency tool kit.
  • Protection and First-Aid: Sunscreen, toiletry kit, water purification tablets, Zip-lock bags, ear plugs, first-aid and all essential medicines.
  • Camping Equipment: Tents, sleeping bags (extreme -5 to +5 Celsius) with liner, trekking poles, Sleeping mat, etc. Kitchen Tent, Ration, cooking utensils, etc.

Preparing for Bhubu Pass Trek
